Ronaldo loses 3M followers in recent Instagram glitch
The most loved footballer on Instagram, Cristiano Ronaldo, had a three million drop in followers on Monday due to a social media platform outage.
A bug on the platform caused numbers on the site to drastically decline, and accounts lost a large number of followers during the outage. Ronaldo, who has a record 493 million Instagram followers, saw his numbers dip by three million as the bug spread.
Although the reason for the drop in follower counts is yet unknown, it is thought that a glitch that resulted in the suspension of millions of accounts may have played a role. However, the problem might have been brought on by an iOS app update for Instagram.
Instagram subsequently asserted that the major social media company had repaired the technical flaw that prohibited users from using the application, but it made no mention of the precise origin of the problems or the reasons behind the sharp decline in follower numbers.
Ronaldo appears to have lost the most followers of any celebrity with a three million reduction, albeit his number has subsequently apparently been restored. The most popular user on the network, Kylie Jenner, lost 1.1 million followers, Kim Kardashian lost around 749,000, and Taylor Swift’s number of followers fell by 674,000.

Despite his on-field performance deteriorating, Ronaldo continues to be a legendary figure after becoming one of the best players in the world during his first stints at Manchester United and Real Madrid. This is understandable given that he will turn 38 in three months and that his career has spanned two decades.
