Babar’s savage reply on criticism made by Aftab Iqbal

Pakistan’s Cricket team captain Babar Azam responded amazingly when asked about the criticism made by Journalist Aftab Iqbal on the leadership of Pakistan’s captain during the previous few weeks.

After the victory over Bangladesh, a reporter questioned Babar about the criticism and mentioned a different reporter by the name of Aftab Iqbal who had criticised the Pakistan captain’s captaincy earlier this week. However, Babar’s response was rather simple and straightforward.

“I don’t know aap kiski baat kar rahe hain. Jiska naam liya hai main unko jaanta bhi nahi. Ye cheezein chalti hain, achha bhi karte hain toh bhi chalti hai. But ham log bother nahi karte, koshish karte hain ki jitna confidence team ko diya jaaye, aur jitna unity bani hui hai usko chalaate rahein (I don’t know who you are talking about. These things happen, even when we perform well, it happens. But we don’t bother, we just try to keep team’s confidence and unity intact),” Babar said.

“Koshish ye hi rehti hai ki ham apna 100 percent de aur jeetein. Kabhi kabhi ham to the mark nahi hote, par ham discussion karte hain aur sochte hain ki kahan ham achha kar sakte hain. (We try to give our 100 percent and win. Sometimes, we are not up to the mark, but we discuss and plan about things where we can improve),” he further stated.

Thursday’s tri-series final group game saw Pakistan win against Bangladesh with a comprehensive 7-wicket victory. Mohammad Rizwan scored a heroic 69 as the team in Christchurch chased down a 174-run target. Mohammad Nawaz provided Pakistan with the much-needed boost they needed during their middle-order crisis. Batting at number four in the run chase, he remained undefeated on 45 off just 20 deliveries to lead his team to victory.

The team’s recent performances have been erratic, with Pakistan losing to Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final and then falling to England at home in a T20I series by a score of 3-4. People within the Pakistan cricket community have spoken out against Babar Azam’s captaincy as a result of Pakistan’s earlier setback to New Zealand in the current tri-series.
