India's Kohli claims given 90 minutes notice of repudiation

India’s Kohli claims given 90 minutes notice of repudiation. Virat Kohli claimed on Wednesday that he was informed of his dismissal as India’s one-day skipper only 90 minutes before the official announcement.

After the recent World Cup, Kohli stepped down as T20 captain and was replaced as ODI captain last week, with India’s cricket board announcing that Rohit Sharma should head both white-ball formats.

The surprise news was made in a single line at the bottom of a press statement from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) concerning the Test squad for the upcoming South African tour.

“I was notified one and a half hours before the selection meeting for the Test series on the 8th, and there was no prior communication to me at all,” Kohli told reporters ahead of the team’s departure for South Africa, where they will play three Tests and three one-day internationals.

“Before we hung up, I was told that the five selectors had decided that I would not be the ODI captain,” the 33-year-old claimed.

Kohli will still lead India in the Test series against South Africa, but according to rumors, he has opted to miss the ensuing ODI series in a rage.

As India’s Kohli claims given 90 minutes notice of repudiation, he, on the other hand, rejected this, telling reporters on Wednesday that he “was and is available for selection” and criticizing the media for “publishing lies.”

He remarked, “I was always eager to play.”
