Babar Azam maintained his position at the top of the ICC T20I Rankings with a rating of 818. Suryakumar Yadav, on the other hand, who has solidified his position as the No. 2 hitter in the T20I rankings, has lost as much as 11 rating points despite a strong performance in the just finished 5-match series in the West Indies and Florida.
According to the ICC, Suryakumar Yadav lost a chance to pass Babar Azam in the T20I Batters Rankings on Sunday as he was rested against the West Indies in the final T20I. However, Pakistan captain Babar’s steady Twenty20 run has helped him remain ahead of the pack. He last played in a T20I in April.
Suryakumar Yadav and Babar Azam will go head-to-head at the Asia Cup in the race for the T20I Rankings’ top place. On August 28, India takes on arch-rivals Pakistan in their first encounter in Dubai.
Before travelling to the United Arab Emirates for the Asia Cup, Pakistan will face the Netherlands in three one-day internationals. Shikhar Dhawan will lead India in a three-match one-day international series in Zimbabwe, after their 4-1 T20I series win over the West Indies.
