Donald Trump Praises Asim Munir for Preventing India-Pakistan War

What makes Asim Munir Trump's favourite Field Marshal?

Former US President Donald Trump has once again praised Field Marshal and Pakistan Army Chief Syed Asim Munir, crediting his leadership—alongside Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif—for preventing a potential full-scale war between Pakistan and India, which he claimed could have saved “millions of lives”.

Speaking at a Florida event, Trump made dramatic remarks that he personally helped stop nuclear conflict between Islamabad and New Delhi, calling Asim Munir a highly respected and powerful military leader.

Addressing the audience alongside US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Navy Secretary John Phelan, Trump said tensions escalated to the point where “eight planes were shot down” and a nuclear confrontation appeared imminent.

“We stopped a possible nuclear war between Pakistan and India,” Trump claimed, adding that Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged his role in preventing millions of deaths.

Trump Meets Asim Munir at White House Amid Strengthening US–Pakistan Ties

Trump recalled that these remarks came as he unveiled his new “Trump-class battleship” naval modernization plan, where he positioned himself as a decisive force for global peace, claiming he has prevented eight wars worldwide.

Following the May 2025 Pakistan-India crisis, relations between Washington and Islamabad significantly improved. Trump hosted Field Marshal Asim Munir at the White House in June, holding a rare one-on-one lunch to appreciate Pakistan’s role in de-escalating the conflict. He later met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Munir again at the Oval Office, calling them “great people”.

During the APEC Summit in Gyeongju, South Korea, Trump continued to praise the Pakistan Army Chief, calling him “a great fighter” and applauding Pakistan for maintaining regional stability.

Pakistan Credits Trump for Brokering Peace

Pakistan officially credited Donald Trump for helping broker the ceasefire between Pakistan and India and even nominated him for a Nobel Peace Prize. Since the May standoff, the two nations have held high-level diplomatic engagements, finalizing a major trade agreement, reflecting a new era of stronger US–Pakistan strategic ties.
