Khawaja Asif reveals Faiz Hameed offered apology to Nawaz Sharif to become COAS.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has made shocking remarks that former ISI director general Lt-General Faiz Hameed was so eager to become COAS that he offered apology to PML-N President Nawaz Sharif in pursuit of his goal, The Asian Mirror reported on Thursday.
In an interview with a private TV channel, Khawaja mentioned that as General Qamar Javed Bajwa’s retirement as army chief approached, Faiz Hameed fastened his efforts to become the army chief until the very last moment.
The minister Asif also revealed that the events of vandalism on May 9 also pointed towards Faiz Hameed’s involvement, though he was not acting alone.

He further claimed that Faiz Hameed provided logistical support, set targets, and offered strategic advice for the events that took place on May 9.
Khawaja Asif added that Faiz Hameed sought forgiveness from Nawaz Sharif and contacted to members within their ranks to support his candidacy for the position of army chief.
He also alleged that General Qamar Javed Bajwa wanted either an extension for himself or the appointment of Lt-General Faiz Hameed as army chief, specifically excluding General Asim Munir from the role.
