Islamabad, May 19, 2024 – Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gillani receives ‘threat call’.

Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gillani received a ‘threat call’ on his mobile phone from an unidentified individual, prompting swift action by law enforcement authorities.

The incident was reported by his son, Member of National Assembly (MNA) Ali Musa Gilani, leading to the registration of a case at the Cantt police station.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the threat was specifically directed at Ali Musa Gilani.

The phone number from which the threat was made has been traced to Khanewal.

In response, a team of police personnel, including the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) under the leadership of SP Tahir Majeed, initiated a series of raids in an effort to apprehend the suspect.

“The safety and security of our officials are of paramount importance, and we are utilizing all available resources to investigate this matter thoroughly,” SP Tahir Majeed stated.

This incident comes shortly after Yusuf Raza Gilani’s unopposed election as Chairman Senate on April 9, 2024.

In the same vein, Sardar Syed Khan of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) was also elected unopposed as Deputy Chairman Senate.

The swift action by the authorities highlights the serious nature of the threat and the commitment to ensuring the security of elected officials.

The police investigation is ongoing, with efforts concentrated on tracing and apprehending the individual responsible for the threatening message.
