Faisal Karim Kundi was born on May 24, 1975 in a political Kundi family, hailing from Dera Ismail Khan.
Faisal Karim Kundi received his primary education from St. Peter’s School, Karachi while did his matric from St. Helen’s High School, Dera Ismail Khan
He obtained a bachelor’s degree from the University of the Punjab, Lahore while an LLB degree from Thomas Valley College, London
He started practical politics with the local elections of 2001.
He ran for the seat of the National Assembly of Pakistan from NA-24 (D I Khan) as a candidate of Pakistan Peoples Party in 2002 Pakistani general election but was unsuccessful.

He was elected to the National Assembly from NA-24 (D.I.Khan) as a candidate of Pakistan Peoples Party in the 2008 Pakistani general election.
On March 19, 2008, he was made Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly.
When he was appointed as the 17th Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, he was 33 years old at that time and became the youngest Deputy Speaker in the history of Pakistan
He ran for the seat of the National Assembly of Pakistan from NA-24 (D.I.Khan) in 2013 Pakistani general election but was unsuccessful.
He has consecutively lost elections of 2018 and 2024 in D.I. Khan. Even, he lost the elections of City Mayor of Tehsil Dera Ismail Khan against Chief Minister KP Ali Amin’s brother Umar Amin Khan Gandapur.
In September 2022, Faisal Karim Kundi was appointed by the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif as the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety.
Faisal Karim Kundi is also holding the political office at the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) serving as the Central Information Secretary of the PPP.
In May 2024, President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari approved the appointment of Mr. Kundi as the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
