Maryam Nawaz, the nominee for Chief Minister of Punjab from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has outlined an ambitious vision for the province as she prepares to assume leadership following the party’s victory in the recent elections.
In a press briefing following a parliamentary meeting of the PML-N on Wednesday, Maryam expressed her gratitude to the electorate for entrusting her party with a clear majority in the Punjab Assembly.
If elected, she would make history as the first woman to hold the position of Chief Minister in Pakistan’s history, overseeing a province with a population exceeding 127 million, representing over half of the nation’s populace.

Addressing the challenges ahead, Maryam emphasized the critical issues facing Punjab, particularly in healthcare, education, local governance, and infrastructure.
She pledged to tackle these challenges head-on, urging unity and collaboration among elected officials to ensure progress and development across all 297 constituencies.
Among her proposed initiatives, Maryam highlighted plans to expand the Safe City Project to enhance security, improve conditions in women’s police stations, alleviate traffic congestion in urban centers like Lahore, and establish IT cities to foster technological innovation and economic growth.
Furthermore, Maryam underscored her commitment to improving access to government services by delivering essential documents directly to citizens’ homes and providing interest-free loans to empower the youth.
She also outlined comprehensive reforms in healthcare, including the redesign of health cards for better coverage and treatment options in both public and private hospitals.
In addition to addressing immediate challenges, Maryam outlined long-term strategies to promote housing, employment, and education in Punjab.
She pledged to construct one hundred thousand homes for the underprivileged, offer merit-based scholarships to facilitate higher education abroad, and create opportunities for sustainable economic growth.
Maryam’s ambitious agenda reflects her determination to lead Punjab into a new era of prosperity and opportunity.
