IHC suspends victory notifications of three PML-N candidates. The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has suspended the victory notifications of three PML-N candidates, marking a setback for Nawaz Sharif’s party amid the ongoing race to form the government.
The suspended notifications pertain to the victories of Tariq Fazl Chaudhry in NA-47, Anjum Aqeel Khan in NA-46, and Raja Khurram Nawaz in NA-48.
The decision came in response to petitions filed by rival candidates challenging the election results, highlighting the legal contestations surrounding the electoral process.
Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb and Justice Arbab Mohammad Tahir of the IHC issued the order following hearings on the petitions.

Among the petitioners were candidates supported by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), including Shoaib Shaeen contesting against Tariq Fazl Chaudhry, Amir Mughal challenging Anjum Aqeel Khan’s victory, and Ali Bukhari disputing Raja Khurram Nawaz’s win.
This legal maneuvering adds to the complexity of the post-election landscape, underscoring the intense competition and scrutiny surrounding electoral outcomes in Pakistan.
The IHC’s intervention underscores the significance of legal processes in ensuring electoral integrity and addressing grievances in the political arena.
Furthermore, recent actions by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) have added another layer of scrutiny to election results.
The withdrawal of a victory notification for Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) leader Awn Chaudhry in NA-128 Lahore, following a petition filed by Barrister Salman Akram Raja, highlights the regulatory body’s commitment to adjudicating electoral disputes.
Arshad Khan, the DG Law of the ECP, has indicated that the commission will deliberate on Raja’s plea, emphasizing the importance of due process and transparency in resolving electoral controversies.
Raja, who ran as the PTI-backed candidate in NA-118, represents one of many stakeholders seeking redressal through legal channels.
As IHC suspends victory notifications of three PML-N candidates, the outcomes of these petitions and hearings will shape the political landscape and determine the path forward for the competing parties
