PTI nominates Omar Ayub for PM slot. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has put forth former minister Omar Ayub Khan as its candidate for the coveted position of prime minister.

This significant announcement was made by none other than former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser, who revealed that PTI had officially selected Omar Ayub to vie for the country’s top executive post.

Qaiser further elaborated that PTI would be reaching out to various political entities, including the Awami National Party (ANP), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), and others, in an effort to forge potential alliances for government formation.

Expressing profound dissatisfaction with the conduct and outcome of the 2024 general elections, Asad Qaiser decried what he termed as the “worst” electoral process in Pakistan’s history, alleging widespread irregularities and casting doubt on the credibility of the results in the eyes of the international community.

He went on to indicate that PTI’s founder, Imran Khan, would soon announce plans for a mass protest aimed at highlighting the alleged electoral malpractices.

This latest development comes hot on the heels of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) nominating Shehbaz Sharif as its contender for the prime ministerial position.

Reports have also surfaced suggesting that Maryam Nawaz, the prominent figure within PML-N ranks, is being considered for the chief ministerial role in the crucial province of Punjab.

The final decision regarding the consensus candidate for the prime ministerial office is expected to be reached following deliberations and consultations among allied political parties.

Notably, the endorsement of both Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz by PML-N’s leadership underscores the party’s strategic positioning in the ongoing power negotiations.

Provisional election results indicate a noteworthy performance by independent candidates, who have secured 101 seats in the National Assembly, with PML-N closely trailing with 75 seats to its name.

As PTI nominates Omar Ayub for PM slot, PML-N’s ongoing efforts to court the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and other key political players signify the party’s proactive stance in forging potential coalitions for governance at the federal level.
