JI rules out alliance with PTI on govt formation. Jamat-e-Islami (JI) has firmly ruled out the possibility of allying with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) despite PTI’s emerging lead in the February 8 general elections.

The decision was confirmed by JI’s Central Naib Amir, Liaqat Baloch, who emphasized that their party would not consider joining forces with PTI at the federal level, citing PTI’s existing coalition with another party.

Speaking to Geo News, Baloch clarified that discussions with PTI were not restricted to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region but encompassed both federal and provincial governments.

He reiterated JI’s stance against aligning with PTI, regardless of the regional context.

In response, PTI leader Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif expressed reservations about forging an alliance with JI, pointing out JI’s negligible representation in the provincial assembly.

Saif indicated that PTI’s discussions with JI were primarily focused on the provincial level, while PTI was exploring legal procedures for government formation.

However, within PTI’s leadership, there appears to be a divergence of opinions regarding negotiations with other political entities for government formation in Islamabad.

While Prime Minister Khan dismissed the notion of talks with other parties, PTI leader Ali Muhammad Khan expressed willingness to engage with all parties to address the country’s challenges.

Khan underscored PTI’s readiness to collaborate with political forces and reiterated PTI’s claim as Pakistan’s largest political party.

As JI rules out alliance with PTI on govt formation, PTI has announced its intention to collaborate with Majlis-e-Wahdat-Muslimeen (MWM) to establish governments in both the Centre and Punjab, aligning with the directives of its founder.
