President Arif Alvi reiterates support for Imran Khan amid legal troubles. In a recent interview with prominent journalist Hamid Mir, President Dr. Arif Alvi reaffirmed his unwavering allegiance to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, who has been incarcerated for over two months, facing serious charges.

President Alvi, a key figure in the PTI leadership, stressed the importance of providing a level playing field for all political contenders in the run-up to elections, and he extended his staunch support to his party chief.

During the interview, President Alvi vouched for Imran Khan’s financial integrity, describing him as an individual of unimpeachable honesty. He expressed unequivocal confidence in Khan’s patriotism, emphasizing that there should be no room for doubt in this regard.

The President’s loyalty to Imran Khan remained unwavering, even in the face of Khan’s legal troubles and imprisonment.

While discussing recent events, President Alvi condemned the attacks on civil and military installations that took place on May 9th.

However, he also emphasized the importance of national progress through the lens of forgiveness. His measured approach was evident as he mentioned that, were he not in his current role, he might have found himself behind bars due to his affiliation with the Imran Khan-led PTI.

The conversation also touched on the upcoming elections and President Alvi’s tenure. He asserted that he would continue in office until the election of a new president is successfully concluded.

However, he expressed doubts about the proposed January election date, suggesting that it may not be feasible. He recalled his letter to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), in which he had proposed a resolution to the issue.

The CEC, in response, deemed the proposed resolution unnecessary. President Alvi noted that Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja had refused to meet with him.

As President Arif Alvi reiterates support for Imran Khan amid legal troubles, the political landscape in Pakistan is currently in a state of transition, with an interim government running the country since the dissolution of the national legislature two months ago.

Initially, elections were scheduled to take place within three months of the dissolution; however, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) cited the need for additional time to redraw constituencies based on the latest population census.

As the nation awaits further developments, President Arif Alvi’s unwavering support for Imran Khan and his views on the upcoming elections remains central to the political discourse in Pakistan.

The evolving situation will undoubtedly shape the future of the country’s political landscape.
