Maulana urges political parties to avoid politics on floods
Ameer of Jamiat Ulema-I-Islam(Fazl) Maulana Fazl Rehman has described the current flooding as unprecedented and urged leaders of all political parties to avoid politics on it and focus on assistance of flood victims and rebuilding damaged infrastructure.
“The country faced unprecedented floods which left villages inundated, crops and infrastructure destroyed and a number of people killed, so it is a time to avoid politics, rather we should help flood-stricken people and focus on reconstruction of damaged roads and bridges etc to enable the displaced families to start living back in their respective areas amid all basic facilities in a dignified manner,” the JUI-F Ameer said while talking to a representative delegation of Chamber of Agriculture, led by Haji Abdul Rasheed Dhap.
The delegation apprised Maulana Fazlur Rahman about the colossal damages caused by the recent floods in Chashma Right Bank Canal (CRBC).

They said, if these damages were not repaired soon, there may be a crisis of wheat, sugar and other commodities in D I Khan as well as in the entire Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Maulana Fazl Rehman said he had informed the district administration and CRBC officials to assess damages and make estimates so that repair work could be timely initiated.
He said his party’s workers were actively busy in relief adding that assistance work in flood-affected areas and other political parties should also follow the suit by focusing on relief and rehabilitation activities instead of doing politics on the natural calamity of the flood.
