Chief Secretary Punjab decides to withdraw from service.

Punjab’s chief secretary, Kamran Ali Afzal, is exhausted and went on vacation apparently but for good.

He was said to have been disturbed by transfers and postings of individuals against the standards of merit.

Kamran Ali Afzal, Punjab’s chief secretary (CS), said he was “frustrated and agitated” by his office’s work in the current political environment and repeatedly pleaded for transfers from the province but the request was ignored. I am disappointed”, he said.

He eventually decided to resign and take two weeks off.

The development comes days after his request to be transferred was denied, by PM Shehbaz Sharif.

Because he cannot cooperate with his PTI and his PML-Q coalition in this state.

He was said to have been concerned about the transfer and secondment of officers against merit as well as securing officer tenure throughout the Punjab.

Punjab Services and General Administration gave Mr. Afzal a well-deserved leave of absence and entrusted him with the day-to-day affairs of the Director General.

Bureaucratic sources believe Afzal has permanently resigned.

. He hopes the federal government will either send a lieutenant on his leave or extend his leave.
