Pakistan drops 7 spots to 161th rank in HDI

Pakistan is now ranked 161 out of 191 nations in the world, having dropped seven places in the Human Development Index (HDI) during 2021.

Pakistan ranks among the worst 30 countries in the world for low human development, with an HDI value of only 0.544, according to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) report.

According to the research, Pakistan has a 66.1-year life expectancy at birth and an eight-year average length of schooling. The Gross National Income (GNI) per person currently stands at $4,624.

According to the report, climatic shocks are affecting the global order and causing the reversal of recently achieved development. It used the tragic floods in Pakistan as evidence. The only South Asian nations with low human development are Pakistan and Afghanistan, it should be noted.

Switzerland is first in the list of top nations, followed by Norway and Iceland, which are placed second and third, respectively.
