D I Khan: Flood victims block Indus Highway against negligence of administration
The flood-hit people of villages Bharki, Jhok Maachhi, Jhok Tareyli, Jhok Jhanddir of Prova Tehsil of D I Khan, on Saturday demonstrated against the district administration over its failure to repair Prova to Chodhwan Sikandar South Road, starting relief and rehabilitation works and supply of relief goods.
The people of flood affected villages Bharki, Jhok Maachhi, Jhok Tareuli, Jhok Jhanddir protested against the district administration and political leaders and blocked the Indus Highway at Chodhwan Morr Prova in protest.
The flood affectees said due to the recent floods and torrential rains in Prova tehsil, Sikandar South Road from Prova to Chaudhwan connecting the flood-hit areas to other areas has been devastated.
The district administration has not started the repairing work on the Sikandar South Road while any relief and rehabilitation activity have not been started for the affectees yet.
They said, we got nothing but childish consolations from government officials and politicians, due to the disconnection of the land route of dozens of villages, the flood victims are helpless and access is still not possible in many areas due to which the problems of the victims are becoming grave.

The demonstrators demanded the government officials to immediately repair the Sikandar South Road and restore the land route and ensure practical relief and assistance to the deserving victims according to their losses.
