COVID-19 disrupts Rio Carnival parades

The US, the UK, and France are some of the countries that have seen the most infections as Omicron spreads.

As the Omicron variant spreads around the world, we’re here to keep you updated. The name of my city is Kuala Lumpur.

The United States has set a new world record for the number of new cases each day. On Monday, after the holiday weekend, there were 1,082,549 new cases.

A record number of people are being charged with crimes in the United Kingdom and other European countries, too.

The World Health Organization (WHO) says there is more and more evidence that Omicron, which is more contagious, has a lot less of an effect on people.

Hong Kong closes off apartment complexes and makes everyone who lives there take a test.

Hong Kong has been sealing off residential housing complexes and making people get tested to stop the spread of coronavirus after a resident was found to have the Omicron strain of the virus.

Testing was done in two apartment buildings in the Causeway Bay area of the Chinese territory on the night of January 4. All residents had to be tested before they could leave their homes. Tests had been done on 270 people at the two places by 3am (07:00 GMT), the government said, and no cases had been found by then.

People who were in 57 places at the same time as people who had COVID-19 have also been told to get tested. The locations include branches of McDonald’s, the M+ art museum, and buses, trains, and ferries from all over the country.

There were 39 cases in Hong Kong on January 5, 36 of which came from outside the country, and three that were linked to an existing case.

Macron says he will “have a go” at people who haven’t been vaccinated, and he wants to do it.

In France, Emmanuel Macron has told people who haven’t been vaccinated against COVID-19 that their access to important parts of life will be cut off if they don’t get it.

Asked by the Le Parisien newspaper, “I really want to bother them.” “And we will keep doing this until the very end.” This is the plan.

He said this would mean “limiting as much as possible their access to activities in social life,” which would be what he meant.

To go to museums, take inter-city trains, or eat at restaurants or cafes, people in France would have to get vaccinated starting on January 15. This is what the government wants to happen.

This is the second year in a row that the street parades and parties at Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival have been called off.

This is because there has been a rise in COVID-19 cases and the threat of the Omicron variant coming to town, says the city’s mayor.

Most of the time, hundreds of thousands of people go to these kinds of events every year.

In a live webcast, Eduardo Paes said that “by its very nature, because it is so democratic, it is impossible to carry out any kind of inspection.”

The show by Rio’s samba schools will go ahead, but there will be strict rules for people who are in the stands.
