Islamic scholar Yusuf Al Qaradawi passes away at 96

The Sheikh Yusuf al Qaradawi, Islamic scholar and, founder of the International Union of Muslim scholars, passes away at the age of 96, September 26, 2022.

The official account of the scholar, Sheikh Yousaf announced the news on Twitter, followed by the same announcement on IUMS Twitter. “The Islamic nation has lost one of its most sincere and virtuous scholars,” added IUMS.

Al Qaradawi was born in the Egyptian province of Gharbia in 1926. He was just 10 years old when he was able to memorize and recite the sacred Koran.

Then, Yousaf Al Qaradawi, one of the renowned scholars joined the institutes of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, then the Faculty of Religious Foundations of Al-Azhar University, from which he obtained the international diploma in 1952 – 1953.

After that he obtained the international diploma with a teaching license from the Faculty of Arabic Language in 1954, then in 1960 he received the higher preparatory diploma equivalent to the master’s degree in the department of sciences of the Koran and Sunnah of the Faculty of the foundations of religion and in 1973.

Sheikh Yusuf al Qaradawi obtained a doctorate with honors, with the first class prize, in the same faculty, on “Zakat and its implications for solving social problems”
