Israeli shelling: At least 44 Palestinians, including 15 children, were killed over three days in Gaza

Israel and the Palestinian militant organization Islamic Jihad declared a ceasefire late on Sunday after three days of intense Israeli shelling on the beleaguered Gaza Strip.

At least 350 civilians were injured, and 44 Palestinians—including 15 children—were killed, according to the most recent official data from the Palestinian health ministry.
Israel has attacked the Palestinian territory four times since 2008, killing almost 4,000 Palestinians, about a fifth of them minors.

The 15 youngsters under the age of 18 killed by Israeli airstrikes over the previous three days.

Since the start of the second intifada in 2000, at least 2,200 children have been shot by Israeli settlers and military personnel in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, according to figures collated by Defense for Children International.
