Renowned stand-up comedian Samay Raina has deleted all episodes of his YouTube show India’s Got Latent following widespread criticism over controversial remarks made during the show.

The controversy has put Raina and fellow panellists Ranveer Allahbadia (BeerBiceps), Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija in legal trouble, with the National Commission for Women (NCW) summoning them for a hearing on February 17.

Taking to Instagram, Raina stated, “Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all India’s Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their enquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you.”

Despite his statement, the controversy continues to spark outrage, with politicians and netizens calling for strict action.

Ranveer Allahbadia issues apology

Podcaster and entrepreneur Ranveer Allahbadia issued a public apology, admitting to a “lapse of judgement” regarding his comments on the show. However, the details of the remarks in question remain unclear.

Legal action & police investigation

Following a complaint filed with the Mumbai Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women’s Commission, a team from Assam Police has arrived in Mumbai to investigate the matter.

The NCW has summoned the show’s key members, including its producers Tushar Poojari and Saurabh Bothra, alongside Raina and the panellists.

Premiering on June 14, 2024, India’s Got Latent is a YouTube-exclusive talent show where participants self-rate their performances, with scores matching the judges leading to a cash prize.
