Kate Middleton astonished Eurovision Song Contest viewers when she appeared in the finale, showing off her piano skills.
Kate performed a short instrumental piece for her cameo in the short footage published on the royal’s official social media account, filmed at a piano in the Crimson Drawing Room of Windsor Castle at the finale of the Eurovision.
The Princess of Wales, 41, was seen wearing a one-shouldered Jenny Packham gown as she performed a composition by Joe Price and Kojo Samuel. Her hair was styled in loose waves for an effortlessly stylish aesthetic.
The former Duchess of Cambridge is known to wear the same gown several times in order to promote sustainable fashion. Furthermore, she uses her clothing and accessories to make vital comments about her beliefs.
According to news.com.au, the Princess used this occasion to pay discreet respect to the late Queen Elizabeth II by pairing her earrings with her stunning gown.
Kate shone from behind the piano as a personal tribute to her grandmother-in-law, her late Majesty’s earrings gleamed beneath the spotlight.
Furthermore, the color of the outfit was allegedly picked to represent the Ukrainian flag.
According to Vogue, Kate Middleton previously wore a blue Alexander McQueen jumper with a badge bearing the Ukrainian flag to the country’s Cultural Centre in London last March, before visiting Reading’s Ukrainian Community Centre in November in a navy-and-mustard LK Bennett gown.
At the time, a source told People magazine that Middleton proposed the idea herself. The insider added that she took “great comfort” in playing the piano while quarantining during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Music was very important to the Duchess during the lockdowns,” the source said. “She also recognizes the powerful way in which music brings people together — especially during difficult times. For these reasons, she was keen to be part of Tom’s performance in this way.”
Walker raved over Middleton’s performance, telling People that she “absolutely smashed it.”
“It’s not easy to just jump behind a piano with a bunch of musicians you’ve never played with before and record live takes to the camera, but she completely nailed it,” Walker said.
He continued, “She’s such a lovely, kind, and warm-hearted person and she took the time to thank everyone personally for the opportunity to play together.”
“It was a crazy pinch-yourself kind of day for me, to be in such a beautiful venue playing alongside the Duchess with my band and a string quartet. I certainly won’t forget that in a hurry!”
Middleton was not the only royal family member to make an unexpected appearance at Eurovision. The 2023 Eurovision Song Contest was also attended by King Charles and Queen Camilla. The couple officially inaugurated the stage at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool two weeks ago, and they also appeared in the film “Welcome to Liverpool,” which was aired ahead of the semi-finals.
