Speaking Truth to Oppressed

Priyanka Chopra made her daughter Malti’s public debut

Priyanka Chopra made her daughter Malti’s public debut. On Monday, actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas and her husband Nick Jonas made their daughter’s public debut. At the Hollywood Walk of Fame, when the Jonas Brothers received their very own star, they first showed Malti Marie’s face to the press and fans. Along with Priyanka, Sophie Turner, and Danielle Jonas, Nick, Kevin, and Joe Jonas attended the celebration given in their honour, according to Hindustan Times.

Priyanka dressed in a dark brown bodycon dress with a high neckline and a midi-length hemline for the event. The actor accessorised the look simply with a set of double hoop earrings, a sleek diamond ring, and printed brown high shoes. Malti Marie Chopra Jonas, her young child’s full name, looked adorable in an off-white outfit. Marie Chopra Jonas looked delightful in an off-white tweed jacket-skirt styled with a cute headband. Pictures of the mother-daughter duo have been circulating online ever since.

Many of them depict the daughter of the Quantico actor, who just recently had her one birthday, sitting on her mother’s knee. Last year, Priyanka and Nick welcomed Malti via surrogacy.

Malti has appeared in Priyanka’s earlier posts, but none of them have shown her face. One particular photo of Priyanka in which Malti had her back to the camera even caused controversy online. A user even went so far as to claim that she was using her daughter as “prop.” Many people also questioned why she needed to include her daughter in the photos if she didn’t want to show her face. However, Priyanka’s supporters stood by her and said that it was her “right and choice.”

Many, still, questioned her decision to opt for surrogacy instead of having the baby herself. While Priyanka has always laughed off the criticism, in an interview with British Vogue recently, she said, “I had medical complications. This was a necessary step, and I’m so grateful I was in a position where I could do this. You don’t know me. You don’t know what I’ve been through. And just because I don’t want to make my medical history public, doesn’t give you the right to make up whatever the reasons were. I’ve been really protective of this chapter of my life with my daughter. Because it’s not about my life only. It’s hers too.”
