Kohli lashes out fan who broke into his hotel room
During the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, Indian batsman Virat Kohli raged at a supporter for invading his personal space. The batsman, who was staying in a hotel in Perth, provided unsettling information about how someone broke into his hotel suite and recorded a video of it. He also said that he is uncomfortable with his “kind of fanaticism” and that he isn’t okay with it.
Anushka Sharma, Kohli’s famous wife, also criticised the fan for entering her husband’s apartment, calling it “an absolute humiliation and violation of a human being.” The two have consistently emphasised the importance of respecting their privacy.
“I understand that fans get very happy and excited seeing their favourite players and get excited to meet them and I’ve always appreciated that, but this video here is appalling and it’s made me feel very paranoid about my privacy.” he wrote on Instagram while sharing a video of the incident.

He further added, “If I cannot have privacy in my own hotel room, then where can I really expect any personal space at all? I’m not okay with this kind of fanaticism and absolute invasion of privacy. Please respect people’s privacy and not treat them as a commodity for entertainment.”
Anushka Sharma also shared her disappointment and wondered where one can draw the line in face of such behaviour. Sharing a screenshot of the video on her Instagram, the actor wrote, “Have experienced a few incidents where some fans have shown no compassion or grace in the past but this really is the worst thing.”
She added, “An absolute disgrace and violation of a human being and anyone who sees this and thinks if ‘you are a celebrity, you should deal with it’ should know that you are also part of the problem. Exercising some self-control helps everyone. Also, if this is happening in your bedroom then where is the line?”
The couple has made a strong public statement against privacy invasion by Indian media and fans. They had already denounced a number of outlets for publishing images of their Vamika, a 2-year-old, without getting permission.
In January of this year, Vamika was captured on camera supporting her father Kohli as he reached half a century during an India vs. South Africa match. In spite of the couple’s request that no pictures of their daughter be taken, screenshots from the show were posted online and quickly went viral.

Following this, Sharma expressed her “surprise” and request for respect for her daughter’s privacy for “reasons discussed earlier” in an Instagram Story. Fans quickly called out publications and accounts after the images went viral and requested that they remove the images. However, other people also questioned the Sultan star’s lack of caution.
Sharma and Kohli responded by stating that they did not intend for Vamika to be filmed and that their position on their daughter’s media exposure is still the same.
The actor also expressed her rage on social media last year after seeing images of her and her spouse relaxing on their balcony.
