The hashtag ‘Boycott Alia Bhatt’ is trending on Twitter just one day before the highly anticipated Netflix film Darlings.
‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ star Alia Bhatt’s directorial debut on Netflix, as a producer, is just one day away from its OTT premiere, but Twitterati is once again boycotting a star kid and making #BoycottAliaBhatt a top trend.
This time, however, it is not the issue of nepotism that is causing concern among social media users, but rather the subject of the title. Bhatt has been accused of encouraging violence against males through her dark comedies on the internet.
According to some, the film’s name was chosen because of the current defamation and assault case of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, two of Hollywood’s ex-couples.

Alia Bhatt, while promoting “Darlings,” offered her thoughts on the social media “Boycott” trend and encouraged that this trend is “boycotted” and the “cancel culture” be “cancelled.” This is important to note.
Jasmeet K. Reen is the director and co-writer of the title, which he wrote with Parveez Sheikh. Darlings also star Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma, and Roshan Mathew in important parts.
This film, which Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt co-produced through their Red Chillies Entertainment and Eternal Sunshine Productions companies, has reportedly been sold to Netflix for estimated INR80 crores for an upcoming direct-to-consumer OTT release.
