Montaineers Kashif Shehroze, Fazal Ali survived yesterday’s Nanga Parbat storm

According to reports, Shehroze Kashif and fellow climber Fazal Ali went missing on the mountain at a height of 7,300 metres on Wednesday. Shehroze Kashif is a well-known Pakistani climber who recently broke the record for climbing the deadly Nanga Parbat as the youngest mountaineer in the world.

However, according to Karar Haidari, secretary of the Alpine Club of Pakistan (ACP), both climbers were left stranded on the mountain by the snowstorm.

Shehroze Kashif’s father has pleaded with Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa in a video message for an immediate operation to rescue both climbers.

“Despite several phone calls, no reply was received from Shehroze Kashif. Our contact with him and Fazal Ali was cut off during their return from Nanga Parbat,” he said.

“Shehroze had paid homage to the martyrs of the Pakistan Army by scaling the Kangchenjunga Peak. He has also set the record of scaling Nanga Parbat at a young age,” he added.

Meanwhile, Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Abdul Khalid issued orders for a rescue operation.

It should be noted that Shehroze Kashif, also known as the Broad Boy from Lahore, and Shimshal climber Fazal Ali scaled the 8,025-meter-high Nanga Parbat on Tuesday.

Shehroze Kashif reported that he reached the top of Nanga Parbat (8126m), the ninth-highest mountain in the world, on Tuesday at 8:45 am PST.

Since Nanga Parbat is known as one of the world’s toughest and most dangerous mountains, he had also urged his well-wishers to pray for his success and safe return.
