Former Human Rights Minister and PTI Leader, Dr. Shirin Mazari, has been arrested outside her home in Islamabad.
She has been apprehended by Anti-corruption Establishment with the help of the Police. There is an investigation going on against Dr. Shirin Mazari in D. G Khan.
She will be shifted to the city in a while, after getting transit remand from Islamabad High Court.
Mazari is charged with encroaching on private property. On 11 March 2022, a complaint was filed against her, and AC Rajanpur was instructed to investigate.
The concerned official prepared the case report on April 8, and in response, the Anti-Corruption Establishment opened a criminal investigation under its 2014 Rules.
Imaan Zainab Mazari-Hazir, the woman’s daughter, confirmed the report that police officials tortured her mother prior to arresting her.
On her Twitter account, she stated, “Male police officers have assaulted and taken away my mother. I have only been informed that Anti Corruption Wing Lahore has abducted her.”
Meanwhile, Farrukh Habib, Shafqat Mahmood, Zartaj Gul Wazir, and others called the former minister’s arrest ‘illegal kidnapping’, calling on authorities to immediately release her.
According to the sources, CM Punjab Hamza Shahbaz has ordered her immediate release.
