ABU DHABI: Both Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to step up their trade and economic cooperation in the areas of energy, infrastructure, and agriculture to further improve ties.
During the recent meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, bilateral relations were discussed.
After a three-day visit to Saudi Arabia, the prime minister and a high-level team arrived in Abu Dhabi.
His Majesty’s crown prince congratulated Pakistan’s new prime minister on his new role and wished him well in his official duties and the well-being of Pakistanis everywhere.
After paying respect to the late UAE founder Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to further deepening ties with the UAE in light of his vision.
The prime minister congratulated the leadership and people of the United Arab Emirates and extended his good wishes for additional success in the future, citing historic development and the UAE’s first 50 years of creation.
PM Sharif commended the UAE’s government and the World Expo 2020 organising team for their efforts.
At bilateral and international fora, he praised the UAE’s leadership for its unwavering support for Pakistani projects aimed at enhancing public welfare, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, 1.7 million Pakistani diaspora residents in the UAE have served as a bridge between the two countries.
Sheikh Mohammed Zayed Al Nahyan’s efforts to eradicate polio were highlighted by the prime minister, who also praised the UAE’s full support of worldwide efforts to eradicate the illness.
The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi pledged his support for bettering bilateral ties for future generations.
Pakistani expats have played an important part in the UAE’s development since the days when there were only a few other nationalities in the country, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum stated.
He asserted that Pakistan and the UAE have always stood by each other during times of crisis and would do so in the future as well.
The two leaders discussed regional and international concerns and decided to keep in touch in order to create a unified strategy on matters of mutual interest at the United Nations, OIC and other multilateral organisations.
After taking office, the prime minister made his first trip to the United Arab Emirates.
