Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced a comprehensive relief package for farmers and motorbike owners, aiming to cushion the impact of rising fuel prices driven by global economic pressures.
The initiative includes a substantial diesel subsidy for farmers and monthly fuel support for registered motorbike users across Punjab.
Diesel subsidy for farmers
In a major boost to the agricultural sector, the Punjab government will provide a diesel subsidy of Rs150 per liter to eligible farmers. The measure is designed to reduce cultivation costs at a time when fuel prices are placing additional strain on farm operations.
The subsidy will apply to farmers who
-
- Own up to 25 acres of land
- Are cultivating wheat in Punjab
- Are eligible for 10 liters of diesel per acre
The surge in international oil prices amid ongoing global crises has led to a significant increase in petrol and diesel costs in Pakistan.

Officials said the support will directly help farmers manage expenses related to plowing, sowing, and harvesting during the current cropping season.
In a message shared on X, formerly Twitter, Maryam Nawaz described farmers as the backbone of Punjab’s economy and reaffirmed her commitment to stand by them in difficult times. She said the government would continue to protect farmers’ rights and ensure they are not left alone during economic challenges.
Fuel price hike linked to global crisis
Explaining the background of the relief measures, the chief minister said the recent increase in petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan is the result of an ongoing global crisis. She stressed that the provincial government fully understands the financial pressure on farmers and citizens and is taking concrete steps to offset rising costs.
Maryam Nawaz also assured that she is personally monitoring the subsidy distribution mechanism to ensure transparency and to make sure the benefits reach all deserving farmers without delay.
Relief package for motorbike owners
Alongside agricultural support, the Punjab government has rolled out a separate relief package for motorbike owners, providing both financial and fuel-related benefits.
Key features of the motorbike relief package include
- Abolition of motorbike registration fees
- Waiver of transfer fees
- Monthly cash subsidy of Rs2,000 per registered motorbike
- Subsidized fuel allocation of 20 liters per month
- Petrol subsidy of Rs100 per liter on the allocated fuel
The package has come into effect immediately and applies to registered motorbike owners throughout the province.
How to apply for the fuel subsidy
To ensure easy access and wide outreach, the government has introduced multiple channels for motorbike owners to apply for the subsidy
- Call the helpline at 1000
- Use the “Maryam ko Batayn” mobile application available on the Play Store

Officials said these options are meant to simplify the process and allow maximum participation.
Government commitment to public relief

She emphasized that both farmers and the general public remain a top priority and pledged continued efforts to provide relief and protect livelihoods during challenging economic conditions.
