Bullet Hole Found on American Airlines Flight to Medellin

MEDELLIN – Colombian authorities are investigating after an apparent bullet hole was discovered in the wing of an American Airlines flight that landed in Medellin from Miami, US media reported Tuesday.

According to reports, the puncture was identified during a routine inspection of the aircraft following its arrival. CBS News noted that the suspected bullet hole was located in the right wing of a Boeing 737 MAX 8 and was discovered on Monday.

American Airlines confirmed that the plane was immediately removed from service for inspection and repairs.

“We will work closely with all relevant authorities to investigate this incident,” the airline told CBS News. No injuries were reported, and the flight reportedly experienced no issues while in the air.

It remains unclear when the damage occurred or how many passengers were onboard. Flight tracking data from Flightradar24 indicates that the aircraft flew from Miami to Medellin on Sunday and then returned from Medellin to Miami on Monday morning.

Colombia’s civil aviation authority stated on Tuesday that it had not received official information from US authorities regarding the incident but promised to inform the public promptly if updates are provided.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the suspected bullet hole as part of standard aviation safety procedures.
