Lahore: The University of Lahore (UOL) was closed on Monday after a female student sustained serious injuries after allegedly jumping from the second floor of a campus building, officials confirmed.
The incident triggered an immediate response from university authorities and police, raising concerns about student safety and mental health on campus.
Injured Student Identified as D-Pharm Student
Police identified the injured student as 21-year-old Fatima Hussain, a Doctor of Pharmacy (D-Pharm) student at the University of Lahore. She is a resident of Narang Mandi, Sheikhupura.

According to Nawab Town police, Fatima suffered severe injuries to both legs, including multiple fractures, and was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Doctors have confirmed that her condition is now out of danger.
Police Launch Investigation, Mobile Phone Seized
Law enforcement officials said an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Fatima’s mobile phone has been taken into custody as part of the inquiry.
Police stated that further details would become clear once the student regains full consciousness and is able to record her statement.
University Rules Out Attendance or Academic Issues
University sources revealed that Fatima had enrolled two and a half to three months ago and maintained a 90 percent attendance record, ruling out attendance-related disciplinary issues.
Officials said there were no immediate signs of academic pressure or administrative action linked to the incident.
University of Lahore Shifts Classes Online
Following the incident, the University of Lahore administration announced the immediate closure of the campus until further notice.
In an official statement, the university said all on-campus classes have been shifted to online mode as authorities review and strengthen campus security and safety arrangements.
Similar Incident Reported at Same University Last Month
The incident comes just weeks after another tragic case at the University of Lahore. On December 20, 2025, a fifth-semester pharmacy student died after jumping from the fourth floor of a university building.
The deceased student, an outstation resident from Kamalia, later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Police had said he was reportedly under mental stress due to domestic issues.
Authorities Continue Investigation
Police and university officials have said that both incidents are under investigation, and further updates will be shared as facts emerge.
The incidents have renewed calls for improved student counseling services, mental health support, and campus safety measures at educational institutions.
