Article 63-A interpretation: SC to resume hearing today

SC orders authorities to present Imran Khan in court by 4:30pm

Justice Umar Ata Bandial, the Chief Justice of Pakistan, will lead a five-member larger bench at the Supreme Court today when it hears a presidential request to get an interpretation of Article 63-A of the constitution.

The hearing will start again at 1:00 PM.

It’s not just Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Mazhar Alam on the bench. The other judges on the bench are Justice Muneeb Akhtar and Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel.

The deputy attorney general asked the court to put off the hearing of the case until the new attorney general of Pakistan was chosen (AGP).

Today, the Supreme Court will also hear a petition from former Prime Minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan, who wants a party’s “turncoats” to never be able to hold public office for the rest of their lives.

Before the last Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government voted on a no-trust motion against it, more than a dozen of its National Assembly members (MNAs) switched sides and joined the opposition. The government filed a reference.
