ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif used the social media platform Twitter on Friday to express his gratitude to the world leaders who had given him messages of congratulations following his election as Pakistan’s prime minister last week.
Shehbaz responded to messages from Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, President and Prime Minister of the UAE, the Emir of Qatar, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and others in a series of tweets.
Shehbaz was elected Prime Minister on April 11 after his predecessor, Imran Khan, was ousted in a no-confidence vote. Messages of congratulations have been flowing in from around the world to Islamabad since then.
In his tweets, Prime Minister Shehbaz stated that he intended to develop Pakistan’s foreign connections and that he wanted to work closely with world leaders to promote trade and long-standing friendship between the two countries.
“I appreciate the expressions of congratulations from HM King Salman bin Abdulaziz and HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.” Pakistan-Saudi ties are unique and characterised by a high level of trust. He declared, “I resolve to work closely with you to fulfil our common vision of strategic collaboration!”
Shehbaz thanked UAE President Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Prime Minister Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan for their congratulations messages.
“I appreciate the President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, as well as the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, for their congratulations.” “I look forward to working together with the UAE leadership to further develop our two fraternal countries’ bilateral ties,” he added.
Shehbaz also mentioned a 2016 agreement for the procurement of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar at a reasonable and competitive price in another tweet. “This deal aided in the resolution of the energy issue. He wrote, “I am grateful to HH the Amir of Qatar for always standing behind Pakistan.”
In a tweet to German Chancellor Scholz, he said, “Vielen Danke [many thanks].” “I am looking forward to working closely with you to improve and deepen Pakistan’s long-standing and varied relations with Germany.” Our cooperation for regional peace and development is still vital.”
“Pakistan and the United Kingdom enjoy deep-rooted and broad-based ties,” Shehbaz stated while retweeting Boris Johnson’s remark. I’m excited to collaborate with you to build on our long-standing friendship and push our multidimensional relationship to the next level.”
