Govt isssues directives to renew passports of Nawaz Sharif, Ishaq Dar

The government has issued directives to renew the passports of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and ex-Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.

According to sources, Nawaz Sharif and Ishaq Dar’s passports will be renewed within 48 hours.

Directives have been issued to the relevant authorities, including the staff of the Pakistan High Commission in the United Kingdom.

The news comes just a day after Nawaz Sharif’s younger brother, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, took the oath of office.

Nawaz’s passport had expired in February of last year, and the Khan government had refused to renew it.

In October 2019, Nawaz Sharif was granted an eight-week bail on medical grounds, and a month later, he was allowed to travel abroad for four weeks of treatment — but he is still in London.
