The Mehangai Mukao March of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz arrived in Sarai Alamgir last night, from whence it will depart for Islamabad at 2 p.m. today (Monday).
The PML-N marchers are expected to arrive in the federal capital today, where political tensions are high as the National Assembly considers the no-confidence resolution and the Supreme Court hears the presidential reference.
PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz and Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Hamza Shehbaz are leading the anti-inflation march. The marchers will be welcomed at Jhelum’s Jado Chowk.
The PML-N office-bearers have decorated Jhelum with welcoming banners and party hoardings.
Maryam described Prime Minister Imran Khan as a “rat” during her speech to party workers in Gujranwala last night.
She described the prime minister as ill-mannered, a liar, inept, and a loser who was attempting to save his government from the joint opposition’s no-confidence motion.
Maryam praised her father, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, for his “sacrifices for the homeland.”
In response to Imran’s charges about Nawaz Sharif’s’secret meetings’ in London, she stated that all of the meetings he was attending were in the country’s best interests.
“The loser is returning to the pavilion,” she remarked. Bring your secrets out into the open if you have any. If I open my mouth, Imran will be charged with corruption.”
She said that Nawaz owned the institutions and that Nawaz owned the country. “He is a farmer’s son.” Pakistanis have elected him Prime Minister three times and will do so again because they love him,” she added.
JUI activists, on the other hand, who arrived in Islamabad on March 26, spent the night in camps set up on both sides of the Srinagar Highway.
While chastising the prime minister, JUI Chief and PDM President Maulana Fazlur Rehman claimed that Imran Khan was in the grasp of the opposition and that they would drag him to any public place of their choosing. “He (the Prime Minister) is insane for threatening opposition leaders,” the Maulana remarked.
