Pakistan ready to cooperate in an impartial Pahalgam investigation, says PM Shahbaz.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Jammu and Kashmir are crucial to Pakistan’s interests while criticising India for holding Pakistan accountable for the Pahalgam attack without a thorough probe.
Speaking at the Kakul Military Academy’s passing-out ceremony, Sharif praised the armed forces for their dedication to defending the nation and affirmed the country’s support for them.
He said that Pakistan was ready to cooperate in an impartial investigation into the Pahalgam incident.
He also hit out at India for suspending the Indus Water Treaty. “Water is our lifeline. There can be no compromise on this issue,” PM Shehbaz said categorically.
He lamented that although Pakistan had a desire to have good relations with Afghanistan, it was still concerned that terrorism emanated from that country.
“We have conveyed to the Afghan government our concerns over the latter’s failure to rein in the terrorists who are operating freely from its soil.”
The prime minister said that Pakistan suffered immensely at the hands of terrorists. “No other country has suffered as much as we have suffered.”

PM Shehbaz said nobody could deny the fact that Kashmir was a disputed territory. “The people of Kashmir will have to be given their right to self-determination,” he asserted.
He went on to say that Pakistan was mindful of its responsibility to play its role for global peace. “We will continue to work as per the UN Charter.”
Praising the Pakistan Army, the prime minister said that the Force was known for its professionalism.
He made it clear that Pakistan’s desire for peace could not be misconstrued as its weakness.
“Just like we had given a befitting response to the Indian aggression in 2019, we will do the same this time also in the event of any misadventure by India. We will defend each and every inch of our land.”
PM Shehbaz claimed that the country’s economy was now improving.
