The opposition parties have resolved to pursue the issue of the delay in calling a National Assembly session on the Supreme Court’s no-confidence motion.
This decision was made by the Opposition’s steering committee in a meeting held on Sunday at the apartment of its convenor Akhtar Mengal in Islamabad, according to the 24News HD TV channel.
While Shehbaz Sharif, the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, spoke over the phone with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), to discuss the motion, particularly the March 25 session.
Sherry Rehman, Naveed Qamar, Ayaz Sadiq, Shahida Akhtar Ali, Zahid Hamid, and others were among those who attended the steering committee meeting, according to sources.
The committee voiced alarm over the National Assembly’s upcoming session on March 25 and scheduled an emergency meeting of its legal staff for tonight.
According to the committee, the Speaker of the National Assembly has broken the law.
The group decided to hold more discussions with the government’s supporters as well as the National Assembly’s rebel Treasury benches.
