Lt Gen (rtd) Faiz Hameed formally arraigned in Field General Court Martial.
Ex-intelligence chief retired Lt Gen Faiz Hameed has been “formally arraigned on charges of engaging in political activities,” the military’s media affairs wing said on Tuesday in a press release.
“[…] And in first place Lt Gen Faiz Hameed (Retd) has been formally arraigned on charges of engaging in political activities, violations of the Official Secret Act detrimental to safety and interest of the state, misuse of authority & government resources and causing wrongful loss to a person(s),” it stated.

“During the process, the involvement of Lt Gen Faiz Hamid (retd), in events related to creating agitation and unrest, leading upto multiple incidents including but not limited to 9th May 2023 incident for fomenting instability; at the behest of and in collusion with vested political interests, is also being separately investigated,” the statement noted.
Moreover, a separate investigation is underway to investigate Lt. Gen. Hameed’s alleged involvement in violent and disruptive incidents linked to unrest in the country, including those related to the events of May 9.
The May 9, 2023, incident refers to countrywide violent protests last year that were prompted by the arrest of former premier Imran Khan in a corruption case, during which approximately 40 public buildings and military installations were damaged.
The ISPR also stated that the inquiry is examining collusion and actions carried out on the instructions of certain political elements.
During the Field General Court Martial process, Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed (R) is being provided all legal rights as per the law, the ISPR confirmed.
“Lt Gen Faiz Hamid (Retd) is being afforded all legal rights as per the law,” the ISPR said.

Faiz Hameed is a retired three-star general of the Pakistan Army.
Faiz was the country’s top spy master and served as the 29th Director General of the ISI from 2019 to 2022.
He was commissioned in the Baloch Regiment, having served as GOC of the 16th Infantry Division in Pano Akil.
