Shehbaz Sharif, the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly (NA) and President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), stated on Friday that the opposition parties will not allow Prime Minister Imran Khan to escape accountability.
“You Niazi!” he yelled to the reporters outside a Lahore accountability court. Others are referred to as absconders. The truth is that you are an ‘absconder,'” he remarked, adding, “You must remember that I, my brother Nawaz Sharif, and my son Hamza Shehbaz have all served time in prison.”
According to Shehbaz, millions of people have lost their jobs. “However, the problem is that the selected prime minister believes he is an Aristotle,” he added.
He mocked the prime minister’s statement upon his return from the United States, in which he stated that he felt as if he had won the world cup once more.
He reminded PM Imran that during electioneering, he had stated that rather than going to the IMF, he would commit himself. “How do you feel about these claims now?” he inquired.
The PML-N president claimed that he had lost his senses now that a no-trust motion was set to be filed against him. “After all, what’s the problem with him when we’re attempting to get rid of him by constitutional means?” he wondered.
Shehbaz expressed remorse for the beating of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chairman Kamran Murtaza by Islamabad Police at Parliament Lodges in Islamabad yesterday (Thursday). “By doing so, the government has revealed its evil face,” he added, adding that no matter how many times selected used unconstitutional methods to remove him, we will only remove him by constitutional means.
In turn, Hamza Shehbaz, the Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, said that Prime Minister Imran Khan was taken aback because he was concerned about the no-trust motion. “His situation is pitiful,” he said.
He expressed optimism that the government’s no-confidence motion would be successful.
Earlier, speaking at the rostrum of the court, the opposition leader pleaded with the judge that, because the opposition had moved a no-confidence motion in the National Assembly, and he would be preoccupied with that, the hearing of the Ramzan Sugar Mills and Ashiana Housing Scheme references be postponed until after March 14.
The court granted his motion and postponed the hearings until March 18.
In a significant move on Friday, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) challenged Shehbaz’s acquittal petition in the Ramzan Sugar Mills case in a reply filed with the court, claiming that the case is still in its early stages.
