PM reaches Lahore to meet Usman Buzdar, PTI MNAs

LAHORE: Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived in Lahore on Thursday as the Jahangir Tareen group intensifies its pressure on Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, seeking his ouster amid political unrest in the country following the premier’s no-trust resolution.

Asad Umar, Shafqat Mahmood, Hammad Azhar, Khusro Bakhtiar, and Shah Mahmood Qureshi, all federal ministers, are in Lahore with the Prime Minister.

The prime minister is set to hold a meeting of the PTI parliamentary party in the provincial capital to reassure party members and address their issues before the important vote on the resolution.

According to reports, the PM will also meet CM Buzdar during his visit to Lahore, who will brief the premier on his contacts and support in the Punjab Assembly.

The PM will also meet Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar and several senior Punjab party leaders, including provincial ministers Samsam Bukhari and Asif Nakai, who are members of the Tareen group.

The Jahangir Tareen political party has already indicated that it will boycott the legislative session.

Governor Sarwar will provide the prime minister with an update on the province’s political situation. They’ll also talk about the angry Tareen movement and other government-related issues in Punjab.

Minority members of parliament are expected to see the PM today in Lahore, according to sources.

Pervaiz Elahi’s help is sought by the Tareen group

A delegation led by Tareen Group provincial minister Nauman Langrial paid a visit to PML-Q leader and Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi at his residence the day before the Prime Minister’s visit.

Provincial ministers Ajmal Cheema, Aun Chaudhry, Lala Tahir Randhawa, Abdul Hayyi Dasti, and Imran Shah were among the delegation’s members. Detailed consultation on the current political scenario in Punjab was done throughout the meeting.

Elahi and the Tareen Group decided to keep in touch in the future for the sake of the province and its people.

Punjab had been decimated, according to Langrial, and the gang would have to rise to the fore in the people’s interest since they had decided to remove Usman Buzdar.

He urged Pervaiz Elahi to back the Tareen Group in their endeavor. He further stated that he would contact Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain shortly.
