Pervez Khattak’s brother all set to join JUI-F. The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf has suffered yet another setback in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), with MPA Liaquat Khattak, brother of Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, and his nephew, former tehsil nazim Ahad Khattak, joining Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl.
Negotiations between the two Khattaks and the JUI-F leadership were successful, and both leaders, together with JUI-F chairman Maulana Fazlur Rehman, will announce their decision at a news conference in Islamabad tomorrow.
This is not the first time in recent years that members of the ruling PTI have defected to the JUI-F in KP. On February 11, 2022, 24News reported that Engineer Rasheed Ahmad, from Kurram district, had decided to leave the PTI and join the JUI-F.
As Pervez Khattak’s brother is all set to join JUI-F, Ihtesham Khan, son of PTI Senate Chief Whip Fida Khan, had previously joined the JUI-F on January 30, 2022.
JUI-F KP Ameer Senator Maulana Ataur Rehman was personally invited to Ihtesham’s announcement at a gathering hosted at his home in Malakand.
To signal his turn of allegiance, Ihtesham raised the JUI-F flag atop his home.
Senator Ataur Rehman spoke at the event and congratulated Ihtesham on joining the JUI-F, expressing the hope that his addition will increase the party’s popularity in Malakand.
Following the JUI-relatively F’s better performance in the first phase of local bodies (LBs) polls held in KP, a growing number of PTI leaders began to transfer to the party.
On January 14, 2022, numerous PTI members and parliamentarians were in contact with the JUI-provincial F’s high leadership about joining the party.
