Prime Minister Imran Khan launched the Ehsaas Riayat Rashan Initiative in Islamabad on Monday, marking the three-year anniversary of the government’s flagship Ehsaas programme.
PM Imran Khan complimented Sania Nishtar, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation, for her “excellent” work.
He claimed that it was the government’s role to help the poor and disenfranchised members of society.
Only a humanitarian, according to Imran Khan, can sympathize with the impoverished. He promised to continue Ehsaas’ initiative for the upliftment of society’s disadvantaged.
According to the Prime Minister’s aim of poverty eradication, 20 million families will get a 30% monthly subsidy on everyday necessities.
Essential commodities like wheat flour, cooking oil, ghee, and lentils will benefit from the targeted subsidy programme.
Subsidies would be provided to 20 million eligible families for a total of 106 billion rupees under the programme.
Under the Ehsaas Kafalat Scheme, the Kafalat Cash Assistance Program, worth 71 billion rupees, will also be launched.
Prime Minister Imran Khan boosted the monthly Ehsaas cash to eligible families from Rs 12,000 to Rs 14,000, according to Dr. Sania Nishter.
