Bilawal urges PM to resign before no-trust motion

LAHORE: PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has proposed that Prime Minister Imran Khan quit before the combined Opposition files a resolution of no confidence against the present administration.

Bilawal made the statement during a press conference at Afzal Nadeem Chan’s apartment in Lahore. Chan, meanwhile, announced his departure from the PTI and today joined the PPP. On his route to Islamabad, the PPP chairman stopped at Chan’s house to lead the long march.

He claimed that the present government is facing the harshest criticism in the form of a no-trust motion.

“We defeated the administration in the Senate and the National Assembly before, and we will do it again,” Bilawal added, referring to the recent Senate elections.

He urged Prime Minister Imran Khan to dissolve the legislature, “as he has often threatened,” if he believes the people will elect him again.

“The Opposition is well prepared even if he does not resign and dissolve the legislature. We will file a no-trust motion and take this democratic struggle to Parliament, where we will be victorious,” according to Bilawal.

The incumbent government under siege

The way all of the Opposition parties have banded together to challenge the existing government, according to Bilawal, has put the government under strain.
“The administration has never been under as much scrutiny as it is right now.”

He went on to say that he has been listening to Prime Minister Khan’s comments for the past three years and has noticed that he [PM Imran Khan] is addicted to doing U-turns, whereas the PPP is not.

He continued, “We have always been consistent in our stance.”

“From the beginning, the PPP’s approach has been to oppose him [PM Imran Khan] on two fronts, that is, the people and the parliament,” Bilawal said, adding that the PTI-led government’s majority was not an organic one.

He claims that the country has been compelled to accept an inorganic majority.

When asked about the failed no-confidence motion against former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, Bilawal stated the primary difference between it and the one they are attempting is that the former was an undemocratic move.

PPP welcomes back Afzal Nadeem Chan

On the occasion of Bilawal’s announcement to re-join the PPP, Nadeem Chan hosted him and the PPP leadership to his home.

“I am a political worker who began my political career as a member of the PPP,” Chan explained.

He agreed that he had to remove himself from PPP at some point, but that it was the wrong option.

“However, I returned to my house and am extremely happy,” he continued.

Bilawal congratulated Chan on his return to the party, saying it was wonderful news for the PPP.

He invited everyone who has ever supported the PPP to re-join the party, whether during the time of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto, or any other age.
