PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif has expressed his disappointment that neither NAB lawyers attend court proceedings nor react while reaffirming his claim that he is innocent.
The opposition leader in the National Assembly, while speaking to the media after attending a court hearing in Lahore on Friday, slammed the administration for bringing fake charges against him.
The government, he claimed, was attempting to humiliate him in front of the entire nation. “I’m being penalized for saving billions of dollars in public funds,” he added, adding that he would continue to respond to their queries.
He remarked, as if he were an addict, that he was hooked to helping people and saving money for the government.
He claimed that in October 2018, NAB summoned him to a dungeon. Companies attempted to accuse him, but were unsuccessful, he added. He said that the authorities summoned him in connection with the Clean Water case, but that they then proceeded to try him under the Ashiyana Scheme.
According to him, the court cleared all of the defendants in this case. Authorities had linked him to the bogus Clean Water case, he claimed. Authorities allegedly made attractive offers to persons willing to submit bogus evidence, he claimed.
He bemoaned the fact that the NAB’s counsel refused to attend the hearing and did not react. He asserted his innocence, claiming that even the UK’s investigation authorities had cleared him in every case.
He stated that if he is found guilty of corruption, his body should be hanged after death.
He stated that corruption was taking place in Parliament’s corridors. He went on to say that the people will hold the authorities accountable for every dime they spend.
The Niazi-NAB nexus, he claimed, had failed to prove anything against him.
He considered the motion of no confidence to represent the voice of the nation.
He offered gratitude to those who suggested his name for prime ministership, stating that everything was in Allah’s hands.
