Former president Asif Ali Zardari wants PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif to be the next prime minister.
He made the proposition at Shehbaz Sharif’s residence amid discussions about how to topple Prime Minister Imran Khan. Fazlur Rehman, the leader of the JUI, and other opposition figures
The meeting decided to file a resolution of no confidence in the National Assembly, and the former president was tasked with dealing with the ruling coalition parties. Zardari’s offer was also seconded by Fazl and Nawaz Sharif, who joined the conference via video link.
Zardari informed the meeting of his constructive interactions with the PML-Q and the Balochistan Awami Party, which form the government coalition.
Opposition leaders have reaffirmed their commitment to continuing coordinated attempts to remove the ‘incompetent’ government.
They came up with a common approach and gained the trust of allies, allowing the no-trust motion to succeed.
They are debating how to give the government a hard time both within and outside of parliament. The leaders slammed the government over the PECA measure, calling it unconstitutional and illegal.
Also in attendance were Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Yousuf Raza Gilani, Pervez Ashraf, Saad Rafique, Rana Sanaullah, Ayaz Sadiq, Maulana Asad, and Akram Durrani.
They said that inflation has been rising, with the administration blaming previous rulers for it. People have been struggling to make ends meet for the past three and a half years, according to opposition leaders.
