Imran Khan accuses Gen Bajwa for cipher missing. Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has been sentenced to a 10-year jail term concerning a cipher case.
The verdict was delivered by Judge Abu Alhasnaat Zulqurnain of a special court at Adiala Jail, finding Khan and his second in line, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, guilty of leaking state secrets.
The charges revolve around the alleged retention and communication of a classified diplomatic cable sent by Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States.
During the proceedings, Khan leveled serious accusations against former army chief Gen (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa, claiming that the confidential document had been stolen from the Prime Minister’s House with the complicity of the ex-army chief.
Khan asserted that one of his ADCs had pilfered the diplomatic cable from his office under the direction of Gen Bajwa.
According to Khan, the cipher was initially present within the PM House, with the military secretary, principal secretary, and protocol secretary responsible for the building’s security.
Khan emphasized that it was the only document that went missing during his three and a half years in office.
An investigation conducted by the military secretary reportedly yielded no clues about the whereabouts of the missing cipher.
In his statement, Khan went on to allege that Gen Bajwa had engaged former Pakistani ambassador Husain Haqqani for lobbying against him.
Furthermore, Khan claimed that the former army chief had utilized the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to exert pressure on individuals to distance themselves from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party.
Despite Khan’s allegations, he stated that when he discussed the conspiracy with Gen Bajwa, the latter dismissed any involvement.
Khan revealed that the ISI had been working against his party, despite his meetings with the former Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
Addressing his Russian visit, Khan stated that both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Gen Bajwa were informed and supportive.
He also commented on a public incident where a paper, purportedly carrying paraphrased content of the cipher, was waved during a rally.
Khan clarified that he had not named any country during his speech and suggested that the public display was a message to Gen Bajwa, warning that the entire plan would be exposed if the PTI government was toppled.
As Imran Khan accuses Gen Bajwa for cipher missing, these explosive developments have sent shockwaves through the political landscape, raising questions about the intersection of politics, security, and allegations of conspiracy at the highest levels of government.
