As Journalist Sami Ibrahim returns home after six days, according to a police complaint, Sami Ibrahim was apprehended last week by unidentified people in the country’s federal capital.
According to reports, the family of a senior dissident journalist filed an abduction complaint at Aabpara Police Station. The complainant stated in the application that at 9 p.m., unknown people in several vehicles stooped Ibrahim near Sector G-6 after he had left his office and was on his way home.
According to the report, the abductors abandoned the TV host’s driver and took Sami with them. According to the family, unknown men also stole three mobile phones and car keys.
Earlier, federal investigators opened an investigation into Ibrahim for making ‘anti-state’ statements. He was charged under various sections of the infamous Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) of 2016, which was widely condemned by journalist organizations and human rights organizations.
The FIA also accused Sami Ibrahim of spreading false information about state institutions, claiming that the Bol News anchor made imputations that were evident attempts to incite armed forces personnel to mutiny.
