Covid-19 cases continue to rise in major cities

ISLAMABAD: On Sunday, the Covid-19 positive ratio was higher in major cities across Pakistan, with 46.77 percent in Nowshera, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).

According to Ministry of National Health Services sources, Pakistan’s overall Covid positive rate was 12.46 percent in the last 24 hours, with K-P having the highest rate of 16.25 percent, followed by Sindh (12.37 percent), Punjab (8.99 percent), and Balochistan (7.80 percent).

Azad Jammu and Kashmir had 21.98 percent of the federating units, while Gilgit-Baltistan had 9.72 percent.

Muzaffarabad ranked second among major urban cities, with a positive ratio of 34.09 percent, followed by Karachi 21.67 percent, Hyderabad 20.05 percent, Lahore 19.30 percent, G-B 18.99 percent, Rawalpindi 16.07 percent, Islamabad 14.77 percent, Faisalabad 12.41 percent, and Quetta 10.21%.

On Sunday, Pakistan reported 7,978 Covid-19 infections in a single day, the second-highest daily caseload since the epidemic began in February 2020.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 64,016 samples were examined, with 7,978 proving positive, indicating an infection rate of 12.46 percent, up from 11.31 percent yesterday.

With the addition of 7,978 new cases, the total number of confirmed infections in the United States has risen to 1,417,991. In the previous 24 hours, another 29 patients have died as a result of the viral infection, bringing the total number of people who have died to 29,248. The number of patients in critical care in various hospitals around the country has grown to 1,455, according to the NCOC.
