The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested senior journalist and anchorperson Imran Riaz Khan at Sialkot Airport for allegedly inciting violence.
Imran Riaz Khan, a known critic of the incumbent government and military establishment, was arrested as violent clashes erupted in the South Asian nation between security forces and supporters of PTI chief Imran Khan, who was arrested in a graft case on Tuesday.
Protests erupted across the country, resulting in chaotic scenes and at least five deaths, as well as hundreds of injuries, including senior police officers.
According to reports, Imran Riaz was detained by the FIA at Sialkot Airport and taken into custody at an unknown location.
Clips circulating on the internet show journalists being detained by law enforcement officers, who even snatched the phone of another journalist who was attempting to film the detention.
Mian Ali Ashfaq, Imran’s lawyer, also confirmed the journalist’s arrest in a tweet.
Imran Riaz was arrested in Lahore earlier this month after being implicated in a slew of cases that he claimed were politically motivated by his refusal to reveal the facts.

Imran Riaz Khan is a Pakistani journalist and a Youtuber.
He started his career as a news anchor and journalist on the Express-News channel. He started his YouTube channel “Imran Riaz Khan” in 2020, which as of October 2022 has more than 3.48 million subscribers.
