Pakistan bans O-level textbooks over objectionable ‘Same Sex Family’ chapter

On Friday, Federal Education Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain announced that the O-level textbooks promoting objectionable material had been seized.

The minister disclosed it while briefing the Senate on the situation and provided assurance that A and O-level textbooks would be thoroughly examined going forward.

Additionally, he had stated that he would notify Cambridge to delete the content.

The matter was first taken up by the PTI Senators Mohsin Aziz and Faisal Saleem Rahman in Senate, stating that a controversial chapter of ‘Same Sex Family’ was being taught in the O-level syllabus. They called the content ‘inappropriate’ and contrary to the Islamic values of Pakistani society.
